Arthur came into us as a stray, in not the best of condition, having chronic skin dermatitis and in urgent need of a dental. With the help of creams, antibiotics, bathing and a lot of TLC from his carers, his skin has healed up beautifully and he has recovered well from his dental surgery, having had 14 teeth extracted.
Arthur has some quirky ways, preferring to use the outside area of his kennel as opposed to the warm inside area. We have been slowly introducing him to indoor areas here, such as the staff room, which he is getting a little more confident with. He can be a bit hit and miss with humans, warming to some, but not so much to others, but he is great with most other dogs and could potentially live with one of the right match. He walks nicely on the lead, but is very strong when he sees something of interest that he wants to get closer to. Although Arthur looks like a large confident dog, he really is not, being easily spooked, so for that reason he would love a home in a rural area where there is little passing traffic.
For Arthur we are looking for a calm home with someone/people with experience of nervous dogs, and as much as we wouldn’t normally want this for a dog, Arthur would need his own outside space initially, with a view that any potential adopter will be able to work with him to help build up his lack of confidence and gain his trust, to the point where he will happily go in and out of the house of his own accord and enjoy the benefits of a cosy warm bed indoors. Do you think you could be the special one(s) to give Arthur the wonderful ‘furever home’ he so richly deserves?
To apply for Arthur, please email firstname.lastname@example.org stating your current situation & work hours and reasons for wanting to adopt him. Please note, we will only be able to accept applications that match his needs. Please also consider if your working hours and situation will still be suitable on a long term basis.
Due to limited staffing and the high level of inquiries at present, there may be a delay, but we will endeavour to respond as soon as possible.
