This gorgeous staffy girl is sadly still looking for a home after things not working out with her recent adopters. Roxy has been at the sanctuary for a couple of months now after her previous home rescued her from someone who was keeping her outside. Unloved for most of her life, we have seen her thrive at the sanctuary and she loves nothing more than spending time in our office sitting on the chair with our re-homing team having a cuddle. After finding the perfect home, Roxy went to visit and because of the new guidelines regarding re-homing was taken to the home to meet her new owners and adopted that day.
We gather that sadly the change in environment brought about anxieties and she became very stressed and unsettled and instantly attached to the young adult male; this caused her to become wary of others approaching him and she reacted negatively when asked to share the sofa with a new arrival later that day. Worried Roxy wasn’t coping with the change in environment, she was brought back to the sanctuary and her safe place where she immediately turned back into happy, playful, affectionate Roxy.
From her eyes, we can only ascertain that this loving girl was so stressed she didn’t know where she was or who the strangers were and became protective and worried by her new world. Going forward, we would like to find Roxy a quieter adult home, with people who can take their time to get to know her to build her confidence in her safe place before going to a new home. We realise this might not happen straight away but we hope that once the guidelines have eased we can find a family who will be happy to come and share her playtime and walks and build a loving bond before taking her home. Due to the recent events we would ask people who have previously applied for Roxy, to re-apply based on her new profile. We understand that Roxy has been good with children in the past and her super fun personality lends itself to a fun family home, however due to her anxieties we now feel that a quieter adult home as an only pet would suit her best.
To apply, please email firstname.lastname@example.org stating your current situation and work hours and reason for wanting to adopt. Please note we will only accept applications that match their needs, and due to the current pandemic, most animals will not be able to be rehomed until restrictions have eased. Please also consider if your working hours and situation will still be suitable on a long term basis.
Due to limited staffing and due to the high level of inquiries at present, there may be a delay but we will endeavour to respond as soon as possible.
