Mogwai

You will doubtless remember Mogwai, one of our beautiful golden oldie cats for whom we put out a plea for a foster home earlier this year. As the monthly e-newsletters came and went, we were able to fill them with wonderful news about cats such Mogwai, Billy & Baby Buttons finding their way into the hearts of some very special foster carers. Mogwai’s people fell for him hook, line & sinker and have recently filled out the official adoption papers – hurray!

What a precious boy Mogwai is – and we just love those ‘failed fosterers’!!

Here’s what they had to say about him:
“We lost our beautiful cat in 2021 at only 5 years old. We were heartbroken but after a few months we began to consider another cat, we missed him so much and didn’t think we would ever get over losing him.

I always follow Holly Hedge on Facebook and last June saw an advert looking for foster homes for some elderly cats. After discussion we decided to put ourselves forward not really thinking we would be chosen as an option. When the email arrived asking if we would consider fostering Mogwai we were both overjoyed and couldn’t wait to meet him.

We took him home in July and he soon settled in. We were initially worried about his mobility but he soon proved us wrong by scaling the stairs with no trouble. We soon learned that he liked to be in the same room as us but on his own seat, near enough to have the occasional head rub and to chirrup at us. He’s an old boy so he likes to sleep in the sun with an occasional stroll round the garden to check out all the interesting smells!

We very soon decided that we were his forever home (or he decided that we were his!) and so we asked to adopt him, a big step considering all his past medical issues but Holly Hedge was very supportive and so far so good.

He is a gentle old boy, not keen on loud noises. The family all love him and we call him Mr Hippity Hop, surprising how fast he can move on three legs. We have several small stools so he can decide which seat he wants to be in, if we are sat in the one he wants then he will sit on the stool and look at us until we move.

Darling Mogwai has made our home feel a happy cat home again.”
