Veterinary costs appeal – Winnie

Winnie

French Bulldog, Age Unknown

Poor French Bulldog Winnie was found shortly after giving birth, still bleeding and underweight, sadly all her puppies had died. She had an ultrasound scan to ensure there were no further puppies or internal inflammation.

Luckily Winnie went straight into a foster home where she has since had BOAS surgery, Laryngeal paralysis surgery, screw tail amputation and skin fold resection due to her chronic skin condition, she has also been spayed.

Winnie will require ongoing treatment for her skin.

Veterinary Notes

BOAS, widen nostrils, laryngeal paralysis, skin fold pyoderma, pyoderma in fascial folds, rubbing bottom – screw tail present. Still dripping small amount of fresh blood from vulva – no infection present. Fosterer currently bathing with malaseb and had preds from presenting vet – but skin still aggravated although reported to be improved. Plan: cont preds, cont malaseb and start surolan in skin folds.
Surolan Ear Drops 30ml (Apply to affected skin folds after bathing and rinsing with malaseb twice daily. Slowly reducing preds, skin looking much better, no itching. Still has blood coming from vulva 6 wks post partum. Vulva still engorged, coat thin but skin looks better. Prescribed antibiotics to rule out inflammation of reproductive tract, continue to reduce preds. If still bleeding in 2 weeks, book in for ultrasound scan of uterus and possible spay for endometritis. Had Ultrasound, all ok.
