Please adopt Lottie (Lurcher)
Meet Lottie, our lovely lurcher who has been with us for quite some time now. When Lottie originally came in, she was terrified of everything, so we can only imagine that she has had a traumatic past.
However, the journey this girl has been on since she originally arrived is phenomenal and she is hardly recognisable as the same scared dog who we first met. Lottie is cheeky, funny, smart and so loyal to the people with whom she has good relationships. She LOVES doing zoomies around our secure field and is so speedy! But she also loves a good nap on the sofa and supervising the staff eating their lunches in the hopes she might get something tasty!
Whilst Lottie has made loads of progress, she is looking for a calm, quiet, experienced home in a quiet/rural area. A place with people who are patient and willing to take the time to get to know her and gently expose her to the things she finds scary. Lottie will require a lot of meets with her new adopters before she will be ready to go home with them. She has never lived in a house before, so will also need several home visits before she can go home.
Lottie is extremely noise sensitive and finds loud bangs/noises scary. She’s particularly worried by fireworks and thunder. Therefore someone with experience of dealing with noise sensitivity in dogs would be ideal so that they can help her with this.
Whilst Lottie is generally quite worried by other dogs out and about, she is able to make friends with other calm, confident dogs who will give her space to approach them when she feels ready. She has made a few dog friends with us and is a lot more confident outdoors when she has a dog friend with her. So she could potentially live with a dog of the right match. The dog would need to be a calm, confident, older dog and ideally medium sized or larger (due to her being a lurcher). It may need several meets for her to feel comfortable with them. However, we feel a dog buddy may be just what Lottie needs to help show her that the world isn’t as scary as it seems!
To apply for Lottie, please email info@hollyhedge.org.uk stating your current situation & working hours and reasons for wanting to adopt her. Please note, we can only accept applications that match her needs. Therefore, please also consider if your work hours and situation will still be suitable on a long term basis. Thank you.
