Bagpuss was known to many on facebook as the cat left behind after his owner sadly passed away. Many people posted sightings of Bagpuss and tried to find a Rescue Shelter that would be able to come out and trap him. Thankfully we soon found out about poor Bagpuss, and now he is at the Sanctuary. We’re hoping to find Bagpuss the loving home he deserves very soon, one of our lovely volunteers wrote a poem for him in the hope it would help him get adopted.
The cat who waited.
I remember the head bumps and chin rubs.
I’d weave in and out of the hurdles you called legs,
and when you’d accidentally step on my tail I’d ignore you for a day or three(!)
But we’d make up and I’d curl up on top of your knee.
You’d stroke my head to show me just how much you loved me.
One day when I was sitting at the back door, waiting patiently for you to let me in.
You always said it was a mistake not to have a door with a cat flap built in.
Something felt strange, I waited for you but you never came home.
Days turned into months and I was still left outside cold and all alone.
I was so scared and confused, why wouldn’t you just let me in?
I promise I’ll stop hiding things under the kitchen bin.
Passing strangers started feeding me, but in my eyes
it’s only you I want to see.
And now I’m here at Holly Hedge Animal Sanctuary waiting for someone to take me home and love me.

If you could be the one to show Bagpuss that it’s okay to love again, please contact 01275 474719 to speak to a member of the re-homing team, and register your interest.
